Yes, tickets are round-trip.
No, round-trip tickets include one boat ride to Peanut Island and one return trip to Riviera Beach Marina Village. If you already used your round-trip ticket to go to the island and return, but would like to return again on the same day, we charge a $12 return ticket per person.
The boat drops off and picks up passengers at the northeast dock. The northeast end of the island lies within the designated swimming and snorkeling zone, which means that it is the ideal side of the island for enjoying beach activities and snorkeling.
Peanut Island is a Palm Beach County park. The county does not allow alcohol in the park, and we are required to enforce this rule according to our contract with the county.
There are no restaurants or vendors on Peanut Island, and nothing is available for sale or rent on the island. However, snacks, drinks, and sunscreen are available for purchase at the ticket desk and on the boat, and snorkel rentals are available at the ticket desk. We recommend you bring your own lunch, snacks, and refreshments to make the most out of your trip. Please note that alcohol is prohibited on the island, so please don't pack any alcoholic beverages. All coolers and cargo are subject to search.
Bring everything you need for a beach day. Coolers, chairs, and umbrellas are permitted, but large speakers are not permitted. A beach wagon is allowed for an additional $5 fee, as there is limited space on board and carts occupy extra space. No double-decker or metal wagons will be permitted. Please remember passengers are responsible for moving all their equipment on and off the boat.
Yes! We are dog-friendly and so is Peanut Island.
Operations are weather permitting. We do not operate in wind advisories or thunderstorms, and we will close early in the event of inclement weather conditions. If you are on the island while it is raining, rest assured that we will get you off the island safely. The boats run in rain, but we may temporarily pause if there is lighting in the area and resume when it is safe. We do not offer refunds for inclement weather.
You will have to swim back . . . just kidding! Rest assured, we do not strand people on the island. The last boat off the island is 5 p.m. daily, so we advise you to wait in line on the dock before 5 p.m. We keep track of how many people are on the island and will keep running our boats until everyone has returned. If you are not in line by 5 p.m. and miss the last boat, we may charge an additional late fee to pick you up. Please note that there may be a long line at the dock if it is a busy weekend or holiday.
There are two snorkeling spots on the island, the artificial reefs and the lagoon. The reefs are accessible from the beach and can be spotted by the rocky outcropping. After we drop you off at the northeast dock, make a left and continue walking until you make your way to the snorkeling area off the beach. The lagoon is located on the southeast end of the island and is accessible via the walking path. There is a wooden bridge over the lagoon. Our captains are happy to point out the snorkeling spots on the way around the island, and keep an eye out for marine life on the boat ride!
Snorkeling on Peanut Island is self-guided, which means that all you need to explore the reefs is a snorkel set and the ability to swim. You can bring your own snorkel and mask to Peanut Island, or you can rent a snorkel set from the ticketing desk. We provide snorkel rentals for $20 each and require a valid, government-issued I.D. from renters. Please note that you must know how to swim to snorkel. Yes, we have gotten that question before.
Our snorkel rentals are $20 each and include a mask and snorkel. Renters must provide a valid, government-issued I.D. for collateral. We do not provide fins because the snorkeling area is shallow enough to navigate without them, and fins can actually stir up the sand and make it more difficult to see. If you encounter a problem with your rental while on the island, please call us at (561) 777-0438 so we can coordinate an exchange and send a replacement to you on the island.
Yes, saltwater fishing is permitted on Peanut Island outside designated guarded swimming areas. Florida residents and nonresidents must have a saltwater fishing license before fishing for saltwater fish, crabs or other marine organisms unless they are exempt. For more information, visit www.myfwc.com. Frozen bait is available for purchase in the marina office at Riviera Beach Marina Village.
Unfortunately, the Kennedy Bunker closed in 2017. After several years of closure, Palm Beach County Commissioners voted in January 2022 to take over the facility, renovate it, and re-open it to the public. The project is expected to take several years, and the bunker is currently closed in the interim.
Our price has increased incrementally over the past 7 years due to changes in operational contracts and inflation. The City of Riviera Beach and Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation each take a percentage of our business. Also, inflation has impacted the costs of fuel and boating supplies.
